Infusión de Kión

This warm infusion named for the Peruvian remedy that inspired it is DM’s favorite fix for colds, sore throats, seasonal allergies, upset stomach, and scurvy.

Ginger has been shown to treat nausea and stomach upset by binding to serotonin receptors that affect gastrointestinal function. It also relieves muscle aches and sore throats associated with cold and flu viruses. Honey has been used as a folk remedy for thousands of years. In addition to its soothing effects on the throat, it has been shown to have antimicrobial properties. Consuming local wildflower honey is a homeopathic treatment for seasonal allergies, thought to help the consumer become slowly accustomed to flora in the surrounding environment. Lemon and lime contain Vitamin C, a natural antihistamine as well as an antioxidant well known to have be important for the growth and repair of tissues. You’ll be back to your mixological self in no time!

Healing Water

GET IT
  • 1 1/2 ounces ginger-lime syrup
  • 8 ounces water
  • 1 teaspoon local wildflower honey
  • lemon wedge
MAKE IT

Bring water to a boil in a tea kettle or in a small saucepan. Pour into mug and add syrup and honey. Squeeze the lemon wedge into the mug and drop it into the water.

Serves one.
